Here is the blue wren just gaining his blue feathers.
The splendid blue wren only turns vibrant blue for mating.
Around mid July he looked like the female's pale brown colours -
then slowly, bit by bit, sections of blue and the black chest band began to appear. About 6 weeks later he was in full colour and I got a nice close up of him sitting on a box outside! |
